There is a monkey on my back......

Monkeys are suppose to be cute, funny and entertaining right? When going to  the zoo they are one of my favorite exhibits, I especially love to watch the baby monkeys......

But what about when a there is a "monkey" on your back?
Jumping, standing, swinging from shoulder to shoulder and pouncing on top of your head.
This "monkey" is squealing in your ear, making faces at you and just will not take no for an answer.....

This monkey is not cute, funny nor is he entertaining. He is annoying, frustrating and an irritation you did not ask for.

This monkey has many names........
House mortgage, car note, insurance premiums, electric bill, water bill, child care, and groceries.
Basically his name is "LIFE"

For me there are days when I feel as though I have a huge ape sitting on my back. He taunts me and laughs at me. He will tell me that I will not make it through another day,and begins his ranting and jumping/swinging on my back.

I have renamed the monkey that comes to sit on my back.....
His name is now "Circumstances"
Life is full of circumstances that come in to hinder our walk with our daddy God.
To prevent us from focusing on what God has planned for our lives and focus on the negative.

In focusing on the "monkey" (circumstances) we are blinded to see the fruits of God in the midst of it all.

Situations and circumstances are going to come our way in life, it's how we handle them is what determines our outcome.
I am learning to NOT look at my circumstances.....
To walk on faith and not by sight.....
I do not deny what is happening around me, I see the monkey, but I refuse to allow it to take me under. Instead I feed that dang ol' monkey a plate of God's food......

God's food you say???

Yes, God's food....HIS WORD!!!!

Every time that monkey opens his mouth I shovel a spoon full of God's word in it.

Deuteronomy 28:13

13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.

Proverbs 11:21

21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

Philippians 4:19

19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 2:24

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

What are you feeding the monkey on your back?
Are you feeding into his ranting and taunting as he swings from shoulder to shoulder or are you feeding him from your daddy God's platter of heavenly food?

I, too, have had my days when I allowed my circumstances ( monkey) to consume my every fiber.....
Actually there were days it felt more like a huge ape was sitting on my back.
You know, the days when you prefer to not get out of bed....
Throw the covers of your face and cry why me??
( Me and the lifetime channel became great friends during those times)

It was through praying and seeking God that I learned how to deal with the monkey on my back.
Circumstances still come, however I now march myself to my kitchen ( Bible) and pick up my spoon ( God's word) and shovel it as fast as I can down that ol monkey's throat!!
And guess what???
He does get full and swings off my back!!!
( God's favor over my circumstance)

I encourage you, don't feed into your circumstances. Tell them how big your God is!!
You are more than a conqueror through Christ!!

Much love~
Stacey

  3. I've always said, "What we focus on gets bigger", so keep your eyes off that monkey and on God's word!
