Not That Road..It's Dangerous

Living in the south my entire life I can prepare for a hurricane in my sleep......
We  have those frequently in this region.
But what we do not have regularly is a winter season with snow, ice and sleet.
It gets cold, but nothing like the northern regions.....
And when we happen to have an unusual arctic blast down south.....
 Most everything is closed down.
Schools....
Businesses.....
And roads.
( I know my northern friends are laughing about now)

Bottom line is we, in the south, do not really know how to drive in the snow and sever icy conditions....
( We can however drive through some water )

Northern folk know winter....
Southern folk know hurricanes.

The last few days, most of the southern region has been shut down due to a winter blast.
Many roads around town were closed, making traveling nearly impossible......
For two days I was on "winter lock down" in my house due to closed roads...
Can you say cabin fever?!?!!
( How the folks up north do this is beyond me)

However there is a lesson to be learned through this.
Many times in our lives our daddy God will close a road to us....
He may shut down several roads we want to venture on.
They may be "icy", full of snow and sleet.....
They may have large pot holes or full of broken pieces.
Whatever the reason, He is protecting us, whether we can understand it or not.

It is when we ignore the warning and danger signs giving to us, we crash.
We slip and slide....
We hydroplane...
We spin out.

Is there a road in your life you are not to be on?
Have you seen the danger signs and barricades but yet continue to go through it?
Turn around.....
Go back......
Get off that road.
It's not too late to re trace your steps to safety.....
To the road your daddy God has for you.

Matthew 7:13-14

13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because[a] narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

  1. Great analogy! I drove home in complete ice the other day from Indy, we've been off of 5 days of school and more snow coming tomorrow. This reminds me that we aren't invincible and we do need to pay heed to the warnings God sends us in many ways. Great post - my freezer home is always open to you if you want to experience real winter! :)
