When Change Becomes Necessary

This beautiful young lady is my baby girl who is 6 months pregnant with my first grand precious.
My grandson is due to make his grand entrance in June and his "Honey", that would be me, is so excited to meet him.
Yes, I am already in love with him!!

Yesterday however, Chelsea go the news from her physician she has gestational diabetes.
It is a common condition in pregnant women and is easily treated.
But there has to be change..........
My  fearless beauty will now have to check her blood sugars three times a day, take medication and eat a special diet.
A change which has become necessary for her and her baby's well being.
 And today it began........

*Healthy lunch packed with love from her momma*

As she makes her changes, I began to think about what spiritual changes are needed in my life. (To stay where I am now spiritually and never grow, I could and  would become complacent, stagnant and unproductive.)

As my daughter can no longer eat what she wants to, including her all time favorite Oreo blast, I ask myself, "what "foods" (spiritual) am I feeding upon?"

God's word tells us in Romans

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." [Romans 12:2]

As a child of God my mind is to be renew....daily.
And to do so my food chain needs to change.

No longer am I to eat the fruit of the world....
Conform to this world
I am to consume the sweet fruits my daddy God has for me.
Be transformed
It is through His spiritual food I become healthy and strong....
renewal of my mind
I obtain knowledge and wisdom.....
discern His will
I continue to grow as a child of God should grow....
what is good, acceptable and perfect

Even though my daughter loves cucumbers and salad, I know she would have preferred an order of fried cheese sticks and an Oreo blast for lunch, we all have things in life we prefer right?
But she instead ate what was necessary, good and acceptable for her health.

As I make of list of healthy foods to stock the pantry  for my daughter...
I ask the Lord to remove what foods in my spiritual pantry that need discarding and to restock in me what is good acceptable and perfect.

What does your spiritual pantry look like?

Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

  1. Stopping in on a visit to the TWW link up. First, sending up prayers for your daughter and her baby's health. Change is hard, but it sounds like she has a lot of support. And secondly, yes, I need to take a spiritual inventory of what's in my pantry. Blessings!

  2. Hi Stacey! Nice to meet you today :)

What a timely post for the season of Lent that is coming this week. What can really do without? I know your daughter has to make choices and sacrifices in her food choices for her little one, and she is willing to make them, even though it's hard.

So what am I willing to do for God, even though it's hard? A great question to think about.

I know your daughter will do well, and you are such a great support for her. I will add you to my prayer list! As an OB/GYNE nurse for 12 years, I saw a lot of women with gestational diabetes. I hope they all had the support you are giving!
