Joshua 6:15-16
15 But it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early, about the dawning of the day, and marched around the city seven times in the same manner. On that day only they marched around the city seven times. 16 And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: “Shout, for the Lord has given you the city!
Walking around miles of a brick wall can seem like an eternity.......
There are days where I can see no end to what appears to be endless marching..............
Joshua's army marched in silence around the walls of Jericho for six days.......
In silence they marched.......
I can only imagine what the were thinking, as men and soldiers.
Here they had been prepared as warriors to seize and charge their enemies.......
But the Lord had them march in silence for six days around the city.
We may not always understand our marching orders from our daddy God......
They may seem absurd, wasteful, and make no sense at all in the natural.
I can honestly say there are days I just want to sprint around the wall in front of me.......
Not walk....
Nor march......
Sprint with gusto is more like it.
That is not what my daddy God's instructions are.....
So I continue to march......
It is when we are obedient, we receive victory in our circumstances.
The Lord knew had he allowed them to speak for the six days, the gripping and complaining would start........
They would begin to believe their way was a better way to defeat Jericho.....
Their words would get in the way of God's way of taking the city.
He wanted all to see, it was He the Lord that was defeating Jericho through Joshua and his army.......
And so they marched in silence around the walls for six days having been obedient to God's orders.
BUT on the seventh day........
Ohhhhh that seventh glorious day......
The trumpets did blow, their voices shouted and the walls fell!!!!!!!
Is there a wall in your life God has you marching around in silence?
Trust in Him......
Believe in Him.......
Obey His instructions!
God's word tells us......
The trumpets will blow......
Walking around miles of a brick wall can seem like an eternity.......

Psalm 75:10
10 “All the horns of the wicked I will also cut off,
But the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.”
But the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.”
The trumpets will blow......
Shouts will be heard......
The walls will fall.......
Keep marching!!!

As I often say "Obedience is a good thing." Doing what He tells us to do, even when it doesn't make sense in terms of how our worldly approach is, is all we can do that will fit eternally. He knows; we don't.
ReplyDeleteBless you... thank you.
Six days, the march must have been long - but on day seven it was seven times longer! It is good to keep marching even when you are so tired and short of breath. Victory is on the way. Thank you for sharing at "Tell Me a Story."
ReplyDeleteOh yes Stacey! We as Believers make the mistake of thinking partial obedience is obedience...not the case!! Complete obedience is the key! As you stated, "it is when we are obedient, we receive victory in our circumstances"...good word my friend! Thanks for linking up today and may you have an absolutely wonderful week lady! ;-))
ReplyDeleteMarching, it will be! I strive for obedience, even in times of chaos. Thank you, for your inspirational post.
ReplyDeleteYes, keep marching my friend!
ReplyDeleteOh how funny! I was going to blog about why God told them not to speak when they marched around Jerico, and here you beat me to it! Great post!
